| The principal touring circuit is almost 220 miles long and runs around the fringes of
Northumberland with a start and finish in Tyneside. It comprises three sections of the
National Cycle Network: The Coast & Castles Cycle Route (NCN 1), the Pennine Cycleway
(NCN 68) and Hadrian's Cycleway (NCN 72). |

part of the country, and the very warmest of welcomes await the visitor. |

| Whether you are looking to spend a week or simply visit for the day, Northumbria's
Cycling Kingdom offers something for everyone. Travelling east from Haltwhistle along
Route 72 you pass through and close to key Roman sites such as Vindolanda, Housesteads
and Chesters Roman Fort as well as the Wall itself. You journey through the historic
centres of Hexham and Corbridge before entering Tyneside again and passing the many
bridges which famously cross the river, including the Gateshead Millennium Bridge,
the world's only tilting bridge. |

| You can take your bike on a train or bus for a day trip or devise your own circuits
using combinations of waymarked routes and minor roads. |
